Chrome and other browsers use Google Safe Browsing to warn people about sites that may contain malware, phishing pages, deceptive ads or unsafe third-party content. If your own site shows a red Dangerous site or Deceptive site ahead page, Google found something on it that it considers harmful. Usually that means the site has been compromised.
What to do
- Contact support right away with your domain. A member of our team will check your site for malware and help you clean it up. The warning won't go away by itself until the cause is removed.
- Look up your site in Google's Safe Browsing site status and include what it says in your message. If your site is in Google Search Console, the Security issues report lists the pages Google flagged.
- Change the passwords of every WordPress administrator.
Please don't ask visitors to click past the warning in the meantime.
Getting the warning removed
Once the site is clean, ask Google to check it again. In Search Console, open Security issues, choose Request review and describe what was fixed. If you don't use Search Console, report the site through Google's Safe Browsing report page. When Google rescans the site and finds no problems, the warning is removed.
To lower the chance of it happening again, keep your plugins and themes updated and delete the ones you don't use.
