Your plan includes automatic daily backups of your website's files and its database: we can put your site back to how it was on an earlier day. Files can go back up to 30 days, the database up to 60 days.
How to ask for a restore
Open Support in your GUDHOST account and tell us:
- The domain of the site
- The date and time you'd like to go back to. Choose a moment from before the problem started.
- What to restore: the whole site, only the content (posts, pages, settings, users and orders, which live in the database), or only the files (themes, plugins and uploaded media). If you're not sure, say so and we'll suggest the safest option.
Before you ask
- A restore replaces what is there now. Anything added or changed after that moment, such as new posts, comments, orders or form entries, will be lost, so copy anything recent you want to keep.
- Files are kept for 30 days and the database for 60 days, so get in touch as soon as you notice a problem.
- Before restoring, we back up your site as it is now, so you can go back to it if you change your mind.
- Planning a big change? Press Back up now under Backups on your site's page first: it gives you a backup from just before.
- You don't need a backup plugin. They duplicate what we already do, and some are not allowed on our platform.
We'll confirm the details with you before anything is overwritten, and let you know when your site is back.
Keeping your own copy
To keep an extra copy of your posts and pages, use Tools → Export in WordPress to download them as a file. If you need a complete copy of your site, contact support.
