If your browser shows This site can't be reached, ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT (Chrome, Firefox), ERR_TIMED_OUT (Edge) or "Safari can't open the page", it couldn't connect to the website. Most of the time the cause is somewhere between your device and the site, not the site itself.
Quick checks on your side
- Reload the page. A brief network glitch often clears on its own.
- Check the address for typos.
- Open another well-known website. If nothing loads, restart your router and device, and contact your internet provider if it continues.
- Try another browser or a private window, and clear your browser cache.
- Temporarily turn off any VPN, ad blocker, antivirus or firewall software, then try again.
- Try a different connection, such as mobile data. If the site loads there, the problem is with your local network.
Check your domain's DNS
If the site doesn't load for anyone, check the DNS records at the company where your domain is registered. In your GUDHOST account, open Websites and compare the IP address shown there with your A records for @ and www. If you changed them recently, allow time for the change to spread: usually a few hours, up to 72 hours. A tool such as dnschecker.org shows what different parts of the internet currently see.
You can also open your site's temporary address, shown under Websites. If it loads, your site is fine and the issue is with the domain's DNS.
Still down?
Contact support and we'll check the platform side for you. Tell us your domain, when it started, the exact error message, whether other people see it too, and anything you changed just before, such as a new plugin or a DNS change.
