Fix "Too many redirects" (ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS)

Updated October 9, 2026

This error means the page keeps redirecting in a loop, for example from HTTP to HTTPS and back again, so the browser gives up.

Try these steps

  1. Clear your browser's cookies and cache for the site, or try a private window. Browsers remember redirects, so an old one can stick around after the cause is fixed.
  2. Bypass the cache. Add ?nocache to the end of the address, for example https://example.com/?nocache. If the page loads that way, a cached redirect is the problem: contact support and we'll clear the cache for your site.
  3. Check your site addresses. In your WordPress dashboard, open Settings → General. WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) should be identical and use your real domain with https://, for example https://www.example.com or https://example.com. Mixing www and non-www, or http and https, can cause a loop.
  4. Check plugins that redirect. Redirect plugins, SSL or "force HTTPS" plugins and security plugins can conflict with each other. Deactivate them one at a time to find the culprit. Your free SSL certificate works without any plugin.
  5. Check any proxy in front of your site. If your domain goes through a service such as Cloudflare, its "Flexible" SSL mode commonly causes this loop. Use "Full" instead.

If the loop stops you reaching your dashboard, or nothing above helps, contact support with your domain and we'll find and fix the redirect for you.
